A SINGING group in Kenya called the Singing Children of Africa will perform a free concert at Bolton Abbey Priory Church at 7pm on Monday September 19.
The concert, which features children who come from difficult circumstances in Kenya, will consist of African music and dancing combined with some contemporary songs.
The Singing Children of Africa was set up by Maureen McIntyre in 2006, eight years after she and Ian McIntyre set up the charity Educate The Kydz following a visit to Kenya.
Initially a few children were sponsored through an existing primary school, then a derelict building was converted into a school for 120 children, and later a primary school was built.
The singing group brought together 26 children and six teachers to the UK for 12-week tour, and money raised during the tour built in orphanage.
Maureen said: “Don’t miss this exciting evening filled with energetic and uplifting performances.”
