THE SPIRIT of leading Bradford band Smokie will be strong at Bingley Arts Centre on September 24.

Spirit of Smokie Of Smokie features the son of the late Smokie frontman Alan Barton, Dean, in the line-up.

Before his death in a tour bus accident in 1995, Alan had been working on material for his second solo album.

A decade later his son Dean decided to finish the project and, together with Alan’s friends Andy Whelan and Graham Kearns, A Room With A View was created.

So began Spirit Of Smokie, with the three men playing tribute to Alan and his band’s music.

Spirit Of Smokie are playing a clutch of UK gigs following tours to sell-out crowds in Europe and Asia over the past few years.

Fans can expect all the hits including Living Next Door To Alice, which was a number one Germany for nine weeks.

The tracklist also includes If You Think You Know How To Love Me, Needles And Pins and Oh Carol, as well as new tracks including Stay With Me Till Dawn.

The Bingley gig begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost £15 in advance and £17 on the door. Visit bingleyartscentre.co.uk or call 01274 567983 to book tickets.
