GROOVY Happening is on the verge of topping £20,000 for Manorlands.

The Groovy team are just £50 short of the total after several years running the monthly music night in Haworth.

Ann Wiles, one of the volunteers, said: “Help us to reach our goal on Saturday by having an amazing night out and hear live music!”

Howlin’ Johnny and The Devil’s Rejects promise fast and furious ‘hellbilly, skiffle, country, rock ‘n’ roll, featuring Johnny himself on ukulele and “voice of treason”.

He is joined by Nick Procter on Satan’s Banjo, Gareth Rice on the washboard of doom and Johnny Lorrimer on the bass geetar from hell.

The Keighley band claim to have formed in 1934 and now play original material as well as some covers people would not expect of this particular nature.

Ann said: “It’s wild, it’s infectious, and it will make ya wanna howl at the moon!"

Greenwell's MoodHook describe themselves as an original bluesy/rock band with filthy harmonica hooks, gravely vocals, psychedelic guitar solos, melodic bass grooves and thunderous drums.

“They sound perfect for their first performance at Groovy Happening,” said Ann.

Henry Parker is described as a talented young guitar player and singer rooted in the original 70s folk guitar of performers like John Renbourn, Dick Graham and Martin Simpson.

Ann said: “His performance incorporates traditional folk song, original instrumentals and solo arrangements, both traditional and modern, all of which are bound together by a creative and distinct finger- style approach.

“Henry went down really well at Groovy last year so we're pleased to have him back.”

Play For Ale say their band has been inflicting music around the Bradford and Halifax areas for quite a few years, and decided on the name because they wished to play more for fun than money.

They play music from America and Britain but mostly American, Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan material.

Doors open at Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, that at 7.30pm. Admission is £3.
