THE HIT stage version of Simon Beaufoy 1990s film comedy The Full Monty is coming to Leeds.

Simon adapted his own screenplay for the stage, and after its debut in Sheffield it last year won the UK Theatre Award for Best Touring Production.

The play, which features iconic songs from the film by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones, is at the Grand Theatre from November 28 to December 3.

It tells how six out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers decide to become strippers with hilarious and heartfelt results.

The cast will be led by Gary Lucy, who played Danny Pennant in EastEnders, DS Will Fletcher in The Bill and Luke Morgan in Hollyoaks.

Appearing with him will be Joe Absolom –Matthew Rose in EastEnders and Al Large in Doc Martin – and Andrew Dunn, who is best known as Tony in Dinnerladies.

Louis Emerick, who played Mick Johnson in Brookside and PC Walsh in Last of the Summer Wine, plays Horse.

The cast of would-be strippers is completed by Chris Fountain, from Hollyoaks and Coronation Street, and Kai Owen, who was also in Hollyoaks as well as Torchwood.

After hitting the big time with The Full Monty, screenwriter Simon Beaufoy went on to gain Oscar and Bafta success with films like Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours.
