HALIFAX Comedy Festival promises laughs at a number of venues from Friday, October 21 to October 29.

New acts joining confirmed headliners Jimmy Carr, Al Murray and Romesh Ranganathan include Edinburgh Award winner and TV presenter Russell Kane.

Russell will unleash his award-winning stand-up performance with his new show, Right Man, Wrong Age.

Other stand-out stand-up shows include international comedian Paul Sinha – best known as a ‘chaser’ on BBC 1 quiz show The Chase – performing at Halifax Minster.

Also performing will be Channel 4's Friday Night Project host Rob Rouse, Steve Royle, who has appeared in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, Andrew Lawrence, James Acaster, and Adam Hills.

The festival features one-off workshops and comedy nights including The Nutty Roast at Square Chapel, bringing together diverse comedians including Lynne Ruth Miller, 82, the oldest performing stand-up female comedian.

Comedy juggernaut The Noise Next Door, the UK’s premier improvisation troupe, will drop into Halifax with their third national tour following eight consecutive sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

There will be a raucous Late Night Comedy Club at the Imperial Crown Hotel, and free family-suitable Lunchtime Laughs in the Westgate Arcade.

Festival director Tim Fagan said “We’re excited to have finally revealed our full comedy line-up which features international talents; established and ascending British stars and much-loved favourites from the local comedy circuit.

“The town is full of stunning historic and contemporary venues of all sizes – offering everything from intimate spaces where you can see rising comedy stars to stunning theatres which attract the best names in the business.

“I’d encourage everyone to delve into our full programme and make the most of the abundance of comedy gems descending on the town this autumn.”

The Halifax Comedy Festival runs offers more than 20 events at eight quirky venues from the little-known Wellington Rooms to legendary local music venue, the Arden Road Social Club.
