LOCAL people of all ages are being invited to celebrate the woodland and its trees on the St Ives estate.

A free event on Sunday afternoon (October 23) will feature woodland crafts, a campfire and storytelling.

Get Out More, which has regular Forest School activities at St Ives near Harden, will host the Woodland Stories event with professional storyteller Jenna Drury from Mud Pie Arts.

Walkers, dog walkers, families and other visitors to the 500-acre country park can input a memory of a favourite tree or parts of the woodland on a postcard.

The event is part of a campaign by the Woodland Trust to create a Charter for Trees, Woods and People, that will redefine the relationship between trees and people in the UK for the future.

The aim is to bring trees and woods back into the centre of public consciousness and political decision-making.

Woodland Stories takes place between 1pm and 3pm opposite the playground at St Ives.
