KEIGHLEY hip hop promoter Sabir ‘Saby’ Hussain plans to organise a peace concert to unite India and Pakistan.

The former Keighley College student is working on the project with leading British Asian pop artist Taz Stereo Nation.

The pair hope to take UK singers, rappers and dancers to perform in India and Pakistan.

Saby, from Highfield, hopes to build on his success in recent years organising hip-hop and dance events at nightspots in Dubai.

Taz, real name Tarsame Singh, has sold more than five million records worldwide and produced songs for several Bollywood movies. His hits include Pyar Ho Gaya, Nachenge Saari Raat and Gallan Gorian.

Saby said he was appalled by the lack of British talent travelling to Pakistan and India to perform at live events in India and Pakistan, and he wanted to do something about it.

He said: “Both India and Pakistan have had bitter relationships due to the political situation but people of both countries respect and love each other’s music and entertainment talent.

“It’s a shame to see both countries are targeting each other’s singers and artists over the current situation of Kashmir, and it’s totally wrong to blame artists for extremist actions on both sides.

“I thought that by taking British talent to both countries we can create more peace and understanding amongst each other.”

Saby and Taz plan to travel to India next month to promote their concept of taking British talent into cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Lahore and Mirpur.

Sally added: “The move has been welcomed by many British Asian artists such as Apache Indian, Jazzy B, Bally Sagoo and Jay Sean.”

Saby’s next hip-hop event in the UK is a College Daytimer at the Krizma Club, Bradford, on November 2 from noon to 5pm.

Saby, who attended Greenhead High School as a teenager, last year organised an event at the Dubai Mall to break the record for the world’s longest DJ Rally.

He teamed up with award-reggae artist Apache Indian to run an initial event to assess all the DJs due to take part, then the actual rally, which featured 151 DJs performing together non-stop for more than eight hours.

During this year’s August bank holiday he booked Los Angeles rapper Dhurr and Keighley soul singer Alibi Adam to perform at his international carnival in Bradford.

Over his 20-year career Saby has also worked with leading hip-hop artists like Black Eyed Peas and 50 Cent.
