BRADFORD’S Steampunk and Gothic Fair will return to the Brew Haus bar and Stein Bierkeller on December 10.

The fair will run from noon to 5pm at the Great Horton Road venue, alongside the Alhambra Theatre.

Proceeds will go to Martin House Children’s Hospice, near Wetherby, and the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, which raises awareness of hate crime against people from alternative sub-cultures.

The first Steampunk Fair in September attracted enthusiasts from across the UK and raised £600 for the two charities.

The latest fair will feature 25 stalls, spread over three floors, covering alternative arts, crafts and gifts, clothing, accessories and jewellery, soaps, candles and photographic prints.

Visitors can indulge in a popular Steampunk pastime – known as Tea Duelling - which requires creative sleight of hand involving a mug of tea and dunking biscuits.

Also back are Gothic-style poetry readings, with well-known local performance artists Saul Cameron and Tasha Webster, and open mic opportunities for any poets and musicians.

Tasha will perform her “fright night” poems, such as Alice in Cyberland and Mr Wolf The Ladykiller, which she describes as “sort of Dr Seuss for Adults”.

Also present will be author Craig Hallam, paranormal/fantasy novelist Dawn Singh, and Bradford artist and author Razwan Al Haq.

Entry is free but with donations accepted.
