POPULAR children’s book We’re Going On A Bear Hunt comes to the stage at King’s Hall, Ilkley, on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 17 and 18.

The adaptation of Michael Rosen’s award-winning book comes to Ilkley direct from a hit West End season and international tour.

The story will be brought vividly and noisily to the stage in director Sally Cookson’s fun-filled adaptation set to Benji Bower’s lively score.

Children and their parents are invited to join an intrepid family of adventurers and their musical dog on a quest to find a bear.

A spokesman said: “As they wade through the gigantic swishy swashy grass, the splishy splashy river and the thick oozy, squelchy mud, expect catchy songs, interactive scenes, plenty of hands-on adventure, plus a few special surprises.”

The show, which is recommended for ages three and above, will be on the Tuesday at 4.30pm and Wednesday at 10.30am and 1.30pm.

The King’s Hall hosts a stage adaptation of another classic children’s book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, on March 16.

The 1pm performance features a menagerie of 75 lovable puppets, while faithfully adapting four Eric Carle stories.

As well as the caterpillar story, there will be The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse, Mister Seahorse and The Very Lonely Firefly.

Coming up at King’s Hall for adults: comedienne Ruby Wax with Frazzled A Guide To Mindfulness (February 16), Gerry Cross The Mersey, with 60s band Gerry And The Pacemakers (February 21), comedy musician John Shuttleworth (February 27) and comedian Count Arthur Strong (March 4).
