SIMON Beaufoy’s stage version of his hit film The Full Monty returns to Bradford Alhambra this month.

The cast of the comedy is led by Gary Lucy as Gaz, with Andrew Dunn as Gerald, Louis Emerick as Horse, Chris Fountain as Guy, Kai Owen as Dave and Anthony Lewis as Lomper.

Jack Ryder, best known as Jamie Mitchell in Eastenders, who also directed the national tour of Calendar Girls, directs The Full Monty.

In 1997, a film about six out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers with nothing to lose took the world by storm, becoming one of the most successful British films ever made.

The story still resonates today, and several years ago, the Oscar-winning screenwriter adapted his own screenplay into an “hilarious and heartfelt” stage production.

The show features iconic songs from the film by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.

The Full Monty is Simon Beaufoy’s first work for the theatre, following screen credits that include The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Salmon Fishing In Yemen and Slumdog Millionaire.

Gary Lucy is known for his roles as Danny Pennant in EastEnders, DS Will Fletcher in The Bill, Kyle Pascoe in Footballer’s Wives and Luke Morgan in Hollyoaks, and he is a past winner of Dancing On Ice.

Andrew Dunn played Tony in Victoria Wood sitcom Dinnerladies and regularly appeared as Alastair Campbell on Bremner, Bird and Fortune.

Louis Emerick played Mick Johnson in the long-running soap Brookside and PC Walsh in the even longer-running Last Of The Summer Wine.

Bradford-born Chris Fountain played Justin Burton in Hollyoaks and Tommy Duckworth in Coronation Street, while Kai Owen played Rhys in BBC sci-fi drama Torchwood and Pete in Hollyoaks. Anthony Lewis is best known as Marc Reynolds in Emmerdale.
