BRADFORD Festival Choral Society performs songs by Mozart and Haydn on March 25.

The choir will be at Bradford Grammar School to perform Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s Nelson Mass.

A spokesman said both pieces are stunning examples of choral music. He added: “Mozart’s requiem combines beautiful melodies with drama and wonderful peaceful moments.

“Mozart died before he completed it and the version they will be performing was completed by Duncan Druce, a composer who was based in Huddersfield and died in 2015.

“Haydn’s work was written in 1798 as Europe plunged into chaos, and provides an opportunity to retreat from a troubled world. Some say it is his greatest work.”

Tom Leech, the choir’s musical director, said members are in great voice and will be supported by professional orchestra Skipton Camerata, as well as for soloists.

Tom will give a pre-concert talk at 6.45pm, intended to provide a fascinating insight into the music and enhance the audience’s enjoyment of the pieces.

The choir offers its concerts free to under-18s, including school groups. Visit bradfordfestivalchoralsociety.org.uk to book tickets.
