ARTISTS who meet at the Morton War Memorial Institute are holding an art sale and exhibition in the building next month.

The event at the East Morton venue will be on Saturday May 20 from 10am to 4pm and the following day from 10am to 3pm.

There will be preview on the Friday evening, with tickets costing £5 including a glass of wine and canapés.

The group is run by Karen Redhead who has been involved with the institute since retiring several years ago.

Following her retirement she fulfilled a childhood ambition by taking up art, studying at Jeremy Taylor’s class in Ilkley,

She said: “As the newly-refurbished institute had to make some money and get more regular hirers, I decided to organise art classes there.

“I initially started with one class and now over 50 students attend one of three multi-media classes.”

The exhibition will include work by professional artists who have tutored the group of the years, Jeremy Taylor, Jane Fielder, Jane Austen, Tony Clegg and Caroline Hardaker.

Admission to the art sale and exhibition will be free. There will be a café with homemade soup, cakes, and on the Sunday bacon butties.

There will be a raffle in aid of the institute & Parkinsons Research. Email karenredhead@hotmail.co.uk for further information.
