‘THE Whirlwind from New York’ headlines Keighley Blues Live tomorrow. (May 19)

Sari Schorr and her band The Engine Room will play the club venue of the Octagon in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, with support from Cooper Brown.

Music fans wondering what Sari sounds like are asked to think of Elkie Brooks in the Six Star General days of classic band Vinegar Joe.

A club spokesman said: “Schorr is a red-hot blues mama, who radiates emotional intensity, connects with and inspires her audiences, and leaves a lasting impression that’s larger than life. Believe the hype; Sari Schorr is all of it and more.

“Sari and The Engine Room have, in the past 12 months, set the UK blues scene on fire, so impressing legendary record producer Mike Vernon that he came out of retirement to produce her album A Force Of Nature.

“Gaining prominence throughout the blues world after several years of touring America and Europe with blues legend Joe Louis Walker and fellow guitarist Popa Chubby, Schorr has now been inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame.

“She has toured extensively throughout the States, Europe, Asia and Australia, with her gale-force vocals and emotionally-charged performances prompting some blues pundits to call her a modern-day hybrid of Janis Joplin and Tina Turner.”

Sari said: “The Engine Room truly is a remarkable band. Something magical happens when we’re on stage together. We’re fuelled further by the audience’s reaction and everything’s possible.
