GROOVY Happening promises five acts as it returns to the Parkside Club, Haworth, on Saturday, July 1.

Punters are invited to get on their feet with headliners Low River Blues Band, Emily Falls, Ben Jordan, Ben Blue Waters and Felka.

The recently-formed Low River Blues Band is made up of Damian Curran, Tim Barker, Geoff Smith, Chris Cowling and Liam Jarvis.

Groovy spokesman Ann Wiles said: “The band play covers and originals of soulful blues music and are becoming more and more popular each week.

“With members from Foxes Faux, Sleepy Jake and the Duvets and Velvet Brown, the music easily falls into place.

“They are looking forward to their first appearance Groovy Happening and promise a great show.

Emily Falls have performed at Groovy Happening lots of times before and consist of four experienced musicians who have been playing together for many years.

Ann said: “The band is fronted by a female vocalist, Elli, whose very powerful voice suits their mix of classic rock and blues covers, with new up-to-date songs to satisfy anyone who wants to hear great music by great musicians.”

Ann said the Groovy was pleased to welcome back Felka, a female acoustic duo offering a brassy performance of confident harmonies and brazen lyrics.

She added: They have been making waves around Yorkshire with their signature songs; a mix of folk, soul and pop.

“Ben Blue Waters is well known for his foot-stomping blues style, and also for hosting several regular Blues & Roots nights in the local area.

The line-up is completed by Ben Jordan, a 14-year-old Cullingworth musician who has been singing and playing guitar on the open mic scene.

Ann said: “He hasn’t got a style yet but is playing everything from Johnny Cash to Bill Withers! He will be starting the night off at 7.50pm.”

Doors open at 7.30pm. Admission £3, and a disco to finish.
