HUDDERSFIELD’s Comedy Cellar will host Edinburgh Festival previews by stand-up comics Rob Rouse, Christian Reilly, Lost Voice Guy and Andy Wilky.

The shows at the Lawrence Batley Theatre are in the “intimate, atmospheric and relaxed” surroundings of the venue’s basement.

Headlining on Thursday July 13 is Rob Rouse, a staple of the comedy circuit for almost 20 years since winning the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition at the 1998 Edinburgh Festival.

With critically acclaimed tours and eight Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows under his belt, Rob has developed a trademark comedic storytelling style that is frank, honest and seriously funny.

Joining Rob Rouse is musical comedian Christian Reilly, who before embarking on his solo career performed alongside Rich Hall as part of the Perrier award-winning Otis Lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars.

Headlining the second Edinburgh Festival preview on July 27 will be Lost Voice Guy, real name Lee Ridley, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby and has never been able to speak.

That hasn’t stopped him from following his dream of being a stand-up comedian. Using an iPad to tell his jokes, Lost Voice Guy has earned critical success and won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2014.

Also on the bill is Andy Wilky, who has been performing since 1995, often under the stage name Smug Roberts.
