FIRST of all I’d like to introduce myself.

I’m Jamie, the new acting manager at the Picture House in Keighley.

I am sure some of you already know me or perhaps have seen me around the cinema, or I may have even served you the box office and kiosk.

If not, I look forward to seeing and getting to know you all!

As it was with previous managers and the current staff, the cinema is a place I hold close to my heart.

I have grown up visiting The Picture House over the years and have fond memories of visiting with my family when I was younger. This is one of the things I love about the cinema, it’s not lost its family friendly warmth nor has it lost its 1950s charm.

I look forward to continuing with a brilliant team as we work together to boost the cinema from strength to strength.

That brings me on some of our current films, with such family favourites as Despicable Me 3 – over 1,000 of you came to us to see it in its first weekend alone!

With laughs aimed at kids and adults alike, why wouldn’t you want to come along and bring your friends and family?

If you haven’t had a chance to see this latest animation yet, no need to worry, check our website at keighley.nm-cinemas.co.uk or our Facebook /keighleycinema for our latest show times.

Following Despicable Me 3 is Cars 3 which is the next big children’s animation. Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) sets out to prove to a new generation of racers that he’s still the best race car in the world. I’m sure you’re all excited about this one too!

For all you superhero fans we are currently showing Spider-Man: Homecoming which is set several months after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens, New York City, while fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man when a new threat, the Vulture, emerges.

With our next big live satellite event, André Rieu’s 2017 Maastricht concert, just round the corner, I look forward to seeing lots of regulars and hopefully some new faces too for a fantastic evening of music and laughter.

This year we will be showing it twice – the first on Saturday July 22 at 7pm, and in case that’s too late for some of you we have a earlier showing on July 23 at 3pm.

Tickets for this performance are £15 for adults and £12 for concessions (14 and under, over 60, and students with a valid Student Union card).

Tickets will be available for purchase in advance from our website, or if you’re not so tech savvy we always keep some tickets for purchase on the door. Please remember we are a cash-only cinema so cannot accept card payments.

Lastly I’d like to thank David Pedrick for all his hard work over the last few years improving the cinema and we would like to wish him all the best in his new endeavours.

* Jamie’s predecessor as Picture House manager, David Pedrick, wrote our Big Picture column for several months before heading off to pastures new.
