THE original stage version of Rita, Sue And Bob Too is being revived for a national tour.

The 1980s play by Andrea Dunbar was famously filmed on the Buttershaw estate in Bradford, with some scenes on the Haworth setts.

The play can be seen at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield from January 31 to February 3 next year.

Andrea Dunbar’s semi-autobiographical play was written in 1982 when she was just 19.

It is described as a vivid portrait of girls caught between brutal childhood and promising future, and hungry for adult adventure.

Best friends Rita and Sue get a lift home from married Bob after babysitting his kids.

When he takes a scenic route and offers them a bit of fun, the three start a fling they each think they control.

The story is told with wicked humour, startling insight and a great ear for dialogue.

The director of the original production, the internationally-renowned Max Stafford-Clark, is directing the major new production for Out of Joint, Octagon Bolton and the Royal Court Theatre.

The Lawrence Batley Theatre will also host Target Theatre Company’s drama Made – set in Bangladesh – on November 23.

The play follows four women as they struggle to survive in the slums around Dhaka’s garment factories.

Day-in day-out, mothers, sisters and daughters sweat behind machines, making clothes destined for the glitzy department stores and high streets of the West.

In the face of severe exploitation and poverty, can there be a future worth fighting for in a country that clothes us?
