CARL SHAY will be in Keighley on August 26 to perform his tribute to Jeff Lynne and Seventies band ELO.

Carl will be at the Octagon to perform Electric Light Orchestra classics like Livin’ Thing, Mr Blue Sky, Xanadu and Evil Woman.

The show at the venue on Bradford Road, Sandbeds, will begin at 8pm and tickets cost £5 in advance or £7.50 on the door.

Carl has been planning his ELO tribute show for many years but was unable to devote time to the project due to high demand for his existing act.

He decided to devote himself to playing Jeff Lynne two years ago after rehearsing as David Barry, Duran Duran and Josh Grogan.

After months of practice he decided this year that he had captured the sound and look of Lynne, and he now sings all of the ELO hits.

The Electric Light Orchestra, formed in 1970 in Birmingham, were a rock band that fused Beatlesque pop, classical arrangements, and futuristic iconography.

During their 1970s and 1980s heyday, the band recorded a string of including conceptual works Eldorado and Time.

During ELO’s original 13-year period of active recording and touring they sold over 50 million records worldwide and in America were billed as “the English guys with the big fiddles”.

The Octagon will host a cabaret show on August 27 with Simone Chantell, while the 309s will headline a 40s and 50s jive dance night on September 9.

Award-winning Elvis impersonator Mark Summers will return on September 1 to play Young Elvis Presley in a two-hour show.

Keighley Blues Live will welcome Ali Maas and Micky Moody To the Octagon on September 15, followed by Australian-born Kara Grainger with her Band on October 13 and US act the Samantha Fish Band on November 26.
