KVU SINGERS will share the stage with the world-renowned King’s Singers at a concert in Ilkley on September 24.

The two choirs will perform at King’s Hall to help local conductor Frank Smith celebrate a lifetime in music.

The KVU Singers musical director has spent 50 years conducting Nelson Arion Male Voice Choir, 25 with Colne Linden Singers and 35 years with KVU Singers.

A spokesman said: “Acclaimed for their life-affirming virtuosity and irresistible charm, The King’s Singers are in global demand. Their work – synonymous with the best in vocal ensemble performance – appeals to a vast international audience.

“Performing to hundreds of thousands of people each season, the group tours regularly to Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australasia. Instantly recognisable for their immaculate intonation, vocal blend, diction and incisive timing, The King’s Singers are consummate entertainers.

“Their programme will include works from renaissance composer William Byrd, romantic era Mendelssohn, through to Bob Chilcott, who is writing today.”
