BLUES queens rule the roost this autumn at the Octagon club in Keighley.

The venue is hosting Keighley Blues Live concerts by Kara Grainger, Chantel McGregor and Samantha Fish.

First up on Friday, October 13 will be Australian soul blues and roots rock singer-songwriter Kara Grainger, with support from Reece Hillis.

Kara learned to play guitar at the age of 12, improvising by her mid-teens and playing in several bands during secondary school.

Her guitar teacher had connections to professional performers in the local jazz and blues, encouraging her to perform at leading Sydney music venue The Basement.

Age 16, she formed blues and roots band Papa Lips, extensively touring Australia’s east coast and playing major festivals.

Turning solo about 15 years ago, Kara has since achieved success in the USA with three solo albums.

Chantel McGregor will perform on October 28 at a gig organised by Keighley Blues Live in conjunction with BAC2Live who regularly organise concerts at nearby Bingley Arts Centre.

Bradford-born Chantel was last seen in the area headlining the 2016 Bingley Blues Bash, winning a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd.

Since then she has been constantly touring the UK and Europe to promote her album Lose Control. Chantel is also performing new songs written on the road for her next album.
