WEST Yorkshire Playhouse is extending the run of festive spectacular The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe for a further week in Leeds.

The family show, based on CS Lewis’s classic story, opens on Wednesday November 29 and will now run until January 27. The Quarry Stage at the West Yorkshire Playhouse is being transformed into a 1,000 seater theatre-in-the-round to bring director Sally Cookson and designer Rae Smith’s vision to life.

The show tells of four wartime evacuees sent to live with an eccentric professor in the country. An innocent game of hide-and-seek leads the children through a magical wardrobe marking the start of a life-changing adventure.

The show is described as a visually-spectacular production, showcasing stunning puppetry and aerial performance.

The West Yorkshire Playhouse is also hosting a show for the children, this year entitled Crumble’s Search For Christmas and promising energetic and magical entertainment. The Leeds theatre is bringing to life a charming seasonal tale about a brave and curious reindeer and his funny, feathery friends.

The friends set out from their cosy family burrow in an extraordinary adventure searching for the true meaning of Christmas in a show written, devised and directed by Robert Alan Evans, who was responsible for the previous The Night Before Christmas at the theatre.

The play runs from Saturday, November 25 to December 30.
