CHRISTMAS Eve will see a Blues and Roots afternoon at the Black Bull in Haworth.

Singers and musicians including Howling Mat, Johnny B and Ben Blue Waters will perform at the Main Street pub from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

The material on offer will include raw roots blues, blues songs from 1920s onwards, and struggles of life and love sung with raw passion.

Ben, who organises Blues and Roots events regularly at the Black Bull, is also hosting an end-of-year Acoustic Special in Haworth.

This second event will be at the The King’s Arms, just a few yards away on Main Street, on December 29 at 8pm.

Headliners will be Phil Dirt & Chris Dover, playing a heady, edgy mix of swampy blues, rockabilly stomp and country music.

Phil is the leader of Phil Dirt & The Heavy Machines, and Chris is the main man of The Hoodoo Operators.

Supporting will be Americana singer/songwriter Steve Chapman Smith, who has performed with Stranger than Fiction, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and Ghostdance.
