MUSICIANS came together this month to organise ‘birthday party’ in Haworth for David Bowie.

Local woman Sue Burke is hosting the event at the Old Hall on January 6 with support from Haworth music night Groovy Happening.

She this month thrashed out details with participants, including Chris Cowling from Bag of Tricks, Paul Wilkinson from DNA, DJ and soundman Phil Hobson, and Gareth John and Dawn Stebbings from Ruby Stone Sound.

The 3pm event, which will also feature Joe Tilston, Joe Dinsdale, Steve Houldsworth and Ben Jordan, will raise money for Manorlands.

There will also be face painting and Bowie cocktails.

Sue, a regular at the Groovy Happening, held her first David Bowie party in January this year, around the time of the singer’s birthday and the first anniversary of his death.

Bowie was born David Jones in 1947 but renamed himself David Bowie in 1966 in order to avoid confusion with the Monkees’ Davy Jones.

He went on to become one of the most influential musicians of his time.
