THE RAILWAY Children are returning to the Keighley and Worth Valley line for a sequel to the classic book.
And who better than pupils from Worth Valley Primary School to celebrate the launch of the follow-up novel?
Leading publisher Scholastic UK has invited children from the Bracken Bank school to attend a special event at Oxenhope railway station.
The youngsters will ride the train to Oxenhope next week to meet Lou Kuenzler, author of The Return of the Railway Children.
They will hear about her new novel, and join the author for a tour of the original pannier tank engine used in the famous 1970s movie of The Railway Children, which was filmed on the line.
Scholastic said the “magical” sequel to the perennial classic by E Nesbit would revisit beloved characters from the original story and introduce new ones against a Second World War backdrop.
The launch event will also help celebrate this year’s 50th anniversary of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
