LOUX, the Leeds band featuring Keighley musician Jordan Hodson, have launched their latest single Cool.

The trio will promote the single with performances at the Long Division Festival in Wakefield on June 2 and a gig with GRDNS at Leeds Oporto on June 6.

The release of Cool was delayed due to a hitch in manufacturing the discs.

Leeds Living magazine said Loux played with an “asserted confidence” while Motley magazine branded their Dream Pop style a must for fans of All Twins and Foals.

The Oporto gig will be curated by Emily Pilbeam from BBC Introducing West Yorkshire, which has championed Loux since their recording debut last November with Meet Me Halfway.

Cool is partly inspired by the novel Gone Girl and the concept of ‘cool girls’ who go along with what men demand of them with little concern for themselves.

Singer and lyricist Jordan approached the subject by relating an uncomfortable personal situation for her with a withering sarcasm that determined she was defiantly not one of those women.

The song is described as a sassy, dancey, slightly moody amalgam of 90s pop synths and hooks, continuing the band’s subtle style of textures.

Fans will hear effects-laden guitars, minimal yet warm drum rhythms and hypnotic vocals.

LOUX played their first-ever show last July, followed the next day by an appearance at the Blue Dot Festival alongside Alt-J, Orbital, Pixies and Leftfield.
