PLUMHALL are returning to the Topic Folk Club in Bradford for a rare home-town concert.

The acoustic duo, who regularly play Keighley and Haworth, will perform on Thursday May 24 at what is known as ‘oldest folk club in the world’.

The club, now based at Glyde House in Bradford city centre, has a long and rich history which Plumhall’s Michelle and Nick are proud to be a part of.

Nicole said: “It’s very gratifying, and humbling, to look back through the folk club archives and see our names alongside the great and good of the folk world.

“The club has been so good to me and has supported my musical ventures for years – going back to the mid 90s. This will be my 14th official appearance! I feel very lucky.”

Michelle said that as soon as Plumhall was formed, the Topic asked the two musicians to perform there.

She said: “I felt very much welcomed by the club – they really have an open-minded view about what is ‘folk’. We’re not a traditional band by any means, but we make music for the people that has something to say, which is ‘folk’ in my book!”

Michelle’s career in music has ranged from singing and playing keyboards on tour with Chumbawamba, to her current job as singer and guitarist in the Chris Norman Band playing on the Continent.

Nick has toured all over the world as a session guitarist for Magna Carta and is one half of Yorkshire folk-rock legends, The Hall Brothers. He has also appeared as a professional actor on stage and television.

Nick added: “Everyone in our music scene wants to play the Topic. It’s a really prestigious club, even though it is totally unpretentious and friendly.”

At the Topic, Plumhall will be previewing songs from their forthcoming album ‘The Ghost Of Noise’, as well as playing bold favourites.
