BRADFORD Cathedral promises a wonderful selection of classical music during the city’s 31st Chamber Season.

The season, opening this autumn, will feature a host of top musicians and ensembles from around the world.

Bradford Theatres general manager Adam Renton said the historic cathedral had an intimate atmosphere and was the perfect place to enjoy classical music.

He said: “Martin Roscoe, one of the UK’s best loved pianists, returns for the opening concert. The season also welcomes a number of returning favourites, including horn player Ben Goldscheider and violinist Tasmin Little with pianist John Lenehan.

“The season will close with one of the UK’s biggest selling classical artists, clarinettist Emma Johnson who is joined by the Gildas Quartet.”

Roscoe has had an extraordinary career spanning over four decades. His programme includes music by Schumann, Schubert, Debussy, Chopin and Beethoven.

The concert opens with Beethoven’s Sonata in C minor, Op.13 Pathetique, one of the composer’s most beautiful and haunting pieces.

The season will feature several Bradford Cathedral debuts, including cellist Pieter Wispelwey accompanied by pianist Danny Driver, Romanian pianist George Todica, and London-based trio Pelleas Ensemble with Henry Roberts, Luba Tunnicliffe and Oliver Wass.

There are chamber subscription packages available, with savings of up to 20 per cent.

Horn player Ben Goldscheider, violinist Callum Smart and pianist Richard Uttley will play Beethoven and Brahms on October 19.

November 16 will see cellist Pieter Wispelwey and pianist Danny Driver
