LOCAL audiences can see the play described as a “festival highlight” by TV and radio presenter Jonathan Ross.
Cup of Beans Comedy described Strife in a Northern Town as snappy, engaging and irresistible while Third Thursday Theatre called it a masterpiece.
Jennifer Banks, who once did work experience the Keighley News, is now on tour with the play she wrote, teaming up with another actress to play a host of characters between them.
Coronation Street actress Jennifer, from Bradford, said: “I originally wrote the script when I returned home to Bradford several years ago after living in London for 15 years.
“It wasn’t the same city that I’d left – there’d been that massive hole in the town centre for years, and people just seemed demoralised.
“I felt the council really hadn’t done enough to help regenerate the city and it upset me. So this was really my pop at them, but in a funny way.”
Strife In A Northern Town is performed at Bradford Playhouse from June 9 to 16. Age 18-plus.
