DAN Baird is on a personal mission as he plays Keighley following his gig last year at Bingley Arts Centre.

Dan and his band Homemade Sin had just finished their Bingley show when the rock veteran was taken seriously ill.

He spent time in Airedale Hospital and Joe Blanton, formerly of Jason and the Scorchers, took over vocal duties for the rest of the tour.

Now Dan and Homemade Sin are back, playing the Octagon on June 15 to raise charity cash for the hospital.

Dan Baird was chief songwriter for the Georgia Satellites, one of the most ferocious Amercian rock bands of the Eighties, who specialised in wild riffs and tanked-up cries.

The Keighley gig is likely to read include Georgia Satellites hits like Keep Your Hands To Yourself, Battleship Chains and Hippy Hippy Shake.

There will also be songs from Dan’s subsequent solo career, when he scored a raft of chart hits like album Love Songs From The Hearing Impaired and single I Love You Period.

It was in 2007 that Dan formed Homemade Sin with musicians from his solo career, and the band has been successful on the international circuit ever since.

Support act at the Octagon music venue, which is on Bradford Road, Sandbeds, will be Last Great Dreamers.
