OSCAR Wilde’s star-studded An Ideal Husband will be broadcast live in Keighley on Tuesday, June 5.

The performance by well-known actors at London’s Vaudeville Theatre will be screened at the Picture House, North Street, from 7.15pm. Cinemas in Bradford and Leeds will show the film at the same time.

The cast includes real-life father and son duo Edward Fox, star of films like The Day of the Jackal, and Freddie Fox from The Judas Kiss. Also taking to the stage in what is considered “the Rolls-Royce of English comedies” is Olivier Award-nominee Frances Barber and Olivier Award-winner Nathaniel Parker.

They will perform alongside Not Going Out actress Sally Bretton and long-time lady of stage and screen Susan Hampshire. An Ideal Husband is the third play in the Classic Spring Theatre Company’s year-long Oscar Wilde Season at the Vaudeville Theatre and is being live by satellite to 420 cinemas across the UK and Ireland.

Directed by Jonathan Church, this entertaining and still topical play brings an act of political sin into the heart of the English home.

As an ambitious government minister, Sir Robert Chiltern’s smooth ascent to the top seems assured until Mrs Cheveley appears in London with damning proof of his previous financial chicanery.
