ORGANISERS of Haworth's Groovy Happening are planning to follow-up last month's successful night with another brilliant line-up for this coming Saturday. (Nov 5)

The latest event will feature three bands and a solo act.

Groovy Happening spokesman Ann Wiles said: "We are very pleased to welcome the 844s.

"This is a four piece band with Dave Rigg – vocals and harmonica, Martin McGroarty – guitar, Jerome Dineen – bass and James Duffy on drums.

"They play original music with a blues, soul and funk feel. We have been looking forward to seeing them play here for us.

"Emily Falls is a band which has performed at Groovy Happening lots of times before and promises to get us all up on our feet.

"So we want people to come along and see some more brilliant performances from four very experienced musicians who have been playing together for many years.

"This band is fronted by a female vocalist, Elli, whose very powerful voice suits their mix of classic rock and blues covers with some new, up to date songs to satisfy anyone who wants to hear great music by great musicians.

"Crossroads Boogie is a lively band of guitar, harmonica, double bass and drums that play 'Jump Jive, West Coast swing and straight blues.'

"People will probably recognise these band members as they have played here at Groovy before under different band names.

"The solo act will be Sammy Binns, who is now 20, and plays acoustic guitar and ukulele.

"She started playing guitar when she was 13 and has been playing ever since.

"Sammy’s big influences have changed since she first played at Groovy. They now range from pop punk bands such as Story So Far, to chart music and she loves to put my own acoustic spin on things!"

Sammy will be starting the night off at 8pm this Saturday. Doors open at 7.30pm at Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane. The night will also include a raffle and disco.

Proceeds from Groovy Happening go towards Manorlands Hospice. The nights have so far raised an impressive total of £20,750.
