MUSICIANS from across the north will again descend on the area as guests of a Cross Hills-based orchestra.

The Craven Accordion Orchestra is for the 20th consecutive year organising the North Central Area Accordion Championships at Beckfoot School in Bingley.

The event, which also includes the Yorkshire Music Festival, will welcome players from Lancashire, the Midlands and North Craven to compete alongside dozens of local musicians.

Orchestra founder Harry Hinchcliffe, a Cross Hills music teacher, said: “The festival will host children and adults playing for the first time to musicians studying to be concert artists of the future.”

The adjudicators include Harry’s former pupil and later world champion accordion player Thom Hardaker.

Alan Shute, who teaches accordion at Glasgow Fiddle Workshop and plays accordion in several ceilidh bands, will have a trade stall.

Anyone is welcome to go along to listen to soloists, groups and orchestras competing in the various classes. Visit cravenaccordionorchestra.co.uk or call 07401 768356 for further information.
