GROOVY Happening promises an “awesome” night of live music to ring in the New Year.

The popular monthly Haworth music event will offer a party atmosphere with Reuben And Ruth And Friends and club favourite General James Blakk.

Ann Wiles, one of the volunteer organisers, said the Groovy Happening would be celebrating the end of a successful year at its regular venue the Parkside Social Club in Butt Lane.

Over the past few years the Groovy Happening had raised £21,300 for the Manorlands hospice.

Alternative rock band General James Blakk play play a wide range of covers.

The band is made up of four experienced musicians who play for enjoyment but take their music seriously.

Over the years they have shared the stage with bands such as Limehouse Lizzy, Skeletal Family and Rebel Truce.

Reuben and Ruth play folk-tinged original music combining piano, guitar, accordion and harmony vocals.

Their album, containing mainly self-penned material, was released on iTunes last year and its songs have featured twice on BBC Introducing.

Ruth is Danish and has a music degree from Leeds College of Music, while Reuben is a Bradfordian who has a City and Guilds qualification in plumbing.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and admission is £3.
