BINGLEY Music Live organisers are asking people to ‘save the date’ for this year’s festival.

The hugely-popular open-air music festival will take place in Myrtle Park from September 1 to 3.

The Bradford Council-run event has attracted thousands of people into the district to listen to top bands and up-and-coming local acts for more than 20 years.

Previous acts entertaining the crowds at Bingley Music Live include electro-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, Scottish rock band Travis, British rapper Tinie Tempah, girl group All Saints, local lads Embrace, festival favourites James, electronic new wave band The Human League and chart topper Nile Rogers and Chic.

Other previous acts were alternative 90s rockers The Wonder Stuff, rapper and record producer Example, Dr Feelgood member and Game of Thrones actor Wilko Johnson, 90s Madchester bands The Charlatans and Black Grape, singer songwriter Jake Bugg and indie band Reef.

Organisers this week said that lots of exciting things were going on behind the scenes, and details would be released over the coming weeks.

This will include information about how people can get hold of tickets and also the first of this year’s acts to make the line-up.

There won’t be any on-site camping this year, and instead BML has teamed up with Bradford and Bingley Sports Club who provide nearby off site camping.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Culture, said the council could not give away much information at the moment.

But she said: “We do want people to save the dates for Bingley Music Live. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks about tickets and acts.”

The festival sees around 15,000 people pour in to Bingley on each day to see established platinum-selling acts as well as the best in emerging talent destined to be the next big thing.

The event has grown from a simple small stage event in 1991, before changing its name to Bingley Music Live in 2007 and gaining a reputation as one of the best small festivals in the UK.

Each year the festival holds an Emerging Talent competition – with heats in Keighley – to give new artists the opportunity to take to the same stage as the big name acts.
