THE FIRST music festival at the Golden Fleece in Oakworth raised more than £1,000 for Manorlands.

A host of bands played outside the Colne Road hostelry throughout the afternoon and evening earlier this month. (August)

The line-up included Fail The Enemy, Wolf 359, Twintwo, Critical Reaction, Ghost Marshalls, We Built a Mountain, Sleepy Jake & Danny Duvet, and Your Illuminations.

Landlady Sue Robinson said the “excellent” event raised £1,069, including proceeds from a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

She said: “We had an excellent day, the music varied from rapping and indie to modern-day rock. Your Illuminations were headliners, putting on a great show as a warm-up for their Bingley Music Live debut in September.

“Special thanks to Wolf 359 and Twintwo who performed extra gigs to cover bands that couldn't make it.

“Ones to watch out for are Critical Reaction who are a young band with great technical ability, who played very tight. Jam on Top's Brian and Kirk did an excellent job with the sound for the bands.”

“People who live around the pub were fantastic. It was a very noisy Saturday and everyone put up with us and showed support for a place which touches many of our lives.”
