BLUES and Roots nights are returning to the Black Bull pub in Haworth following a change of management.

Keighley singer-songwriter Ben Blue Waters will as usual host the night and begin the proceedings at 8pm with his own foot-stomping slide guitar blues.

Ben, who has had a long and varied musical career, will perform classics by such artists as Howling Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Son House and Captain Beefheart.

The gig on Saturday, September 2 will feature young guitarist Mila Lee who incorporates elements of jazz, blues and funk into a performance described as mesmerising.

The headline slot will be filled by blues and ragtime masters Gerry Cooper and Phil Snell.

Gerry plays guitar and harmonica while Phil plays guitar, fiddle and mandolin, and between them they cook up an intoxicating brew of intricate, joyful music.

The pair, who continue with solo and band projects, have performed together at a host of clubs, pubs and Northern festivals.
