JOHN ‘RHINO’ Edwards is taking a break from his day job as bass player with rock legends Status Quo.

Keighley music fans can reap the benefits as Rhino appears at Octagon Live on April 20 with his band Rhino’s Revenge.

A handful of live dates across the UK will support the release of the second Rhino’s Revenge album, 15 years after the band’s debut was released by Eagle Records.

Rhino said: “By any standards, that’s a long time between albums. But when you’re fortunate enough to be in a band like Quo, you don’t get too much spare time!”

Having previously been a member of acts including The Climax Blues Band, Space and Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Rhino was invited to join Quo in 1987 and has been permanent in the line-up ever since.

At the Octagon, in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, Rhino’s Revenge will play songs from John’s albums, along with Quo classics.

Rhino’s Revenge also includes current FM lead guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick.

Bingley-based promoters BAC2Live, who are organising the gig, warned music fans to expect some “no-nonsense heads-down mindless boogie”.

Coming up on April 27 at the Octagon will be Eddie Earthquake And The Tremors.

The three-piece beat combo are described as authentic and energetic, with great musicians and harmony singers playing rock ‘n’ roll, pop hits and obscure gems.

Mark Summers will return to the Octagon on May 4 to present a two-hour show as the Young Elvis Presley.

The show will be made up of three segments – Sun Records Years, Conscription in Uniform, and the Leather Period.
