ALBUM: Skeletal Family - Songs Of Love, Hope & Despair

This album is a real progression from 2005’s Sakura thanks to Claire’s vocals.

It’s as if she’s stepped out from the shadow of Anne-Marie and now she believes Skeletal Family are just as much her band as it is original members Stan, Karlheinz and Martin.

With the addition of Johnny Lorrimer on bass she is no longer the new kid on the block and the result is a more accomplished album than its predecessor.

The Bauhaus-like title track opens the album before Siouxsie territory is encroached upon in Make It Alright. The Banshees are an obvious comparison with the guitar on Perfect Day.

To compare this album to contemporaries is a little unfair because it stands up on its own merits - Peripheral Vision being the only low point.
