Channing Tatum has been approached to voice the role of Superman in Lego's new superhero movie, it has been revealed.

Lego: The Piece Of Resistance is a combination of animation and live-action featuring caped crusaders Batman and Superman, produced by Warner Bros.

Channing has been asked to voice the role of Lego Superman, Variety reports, although he is yet to sign up due to his busy filming schedule, including new thriller White House Down and sci-fi epic Foxcatcher.

Will Arnett, who most recently appeared in Men In Black 3 as Agent AA will voice Lego Batman.

The film will star Emmet, an ordinary, law-abiding, Lego mini-figure, voiced by Moneyball's Chris Pratt, who is mistaken for the most extraordinary MasterBuilder. He's drafted in to a fellowship of strangers on a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together.

The film will be directed by Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs team Phil Lord and Christopher Miller along with Robot Chicken's Chris McKay.

The production has been in development since 2008 and is due for release in February 2014.
