AS THE summer holidays are now over and the children are back at school, it’s time for us to finish all the little DIY jobs we started before the holidays but haven't had chance to finish yet.

The first of these at the Picture House is the fitting of the carpet in the ladies’ toilets which I am pleased to announce is down and looking beautiful.

Over the next few months you may notice improvements to our other toilets too so keep an eye out for that!

In my last article I talked about the rare times we get to run our old 35mm projectors, but guess what?

If you want the opportunity to experience this ‘traditional’ projection format, then why not come along and support us on Saturday September 16 at 10am for our Macmillan Coffee Morning where we will be showing Brave in 35mm.

Why not bring the whole family along for a cake and a nostalgic treat, and don’t forget to dress as your favourite Disney character too! For more information check out our Facebook page.

For those of you are who love art as much as film, our Take 5 Coffee Lounge hosts a Keighley Art Club exhibition which will be updated in the next few months. With many of the pieces up for sale, it’s well worth a look.

With the latest remake of Stephen King’s It (15) in full swing, I look forward to seeing some more of you for this classic creepy, horror where a group of bullied kids band together when a monster, taking the appearance of a clown, begins hunting children.

Will you float too?

For those of you who prefer something a little less jumpy, from Friday, September 15 we will be showing Victoria And Abdul (PG).

Abdul Karim arrives from India to participate in Queen Victoria's golden jubilee. The young clerk is surprised to find favour with the queen herself.

As Victoria questions the constrictions of her long-held position, the two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance that her household and inner circle try to destroy. As their friendship deepens, the queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes, joyfully reclaiming her humanity.

This film looks fun thanks to the brilliant lead Judy Dench and her fantastic humour popping up throughout this story of Victoria's later years. For those of you who love documentary-style films like Churchill and Dunkirk I'm sure this one won't disappoint.

Now for a quick glimpse of some upcoming films later this year.

It’s good news for all you superhero fans, with Marvel's latest movie Thor released in October and DC's superhero team-up Justice League arriving shortly after in November.

It’s a win-win for Marvel and DC fans alike so there's loads to get excited about, not to mention Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi which will reach our screens just in time for Christmas!

Until then I look forward to seeing you all supporting your local cinema.
