OVER THE past few weeks I and a few other members of staff have been learning the intricate skill of 35mm projection.

We were taught by former Projectionist of the Year, Robert Pearson!

Compared to digital projection, it takes a lot of patience to understand the workings of lacing up the film, ensuring it doesn’t snap during the film, and finally to rewind the reel until it is ready for the next showing. So thank you Bob for teaching us!

Now onto the upcoming reboot of Murder on the Orient Express with a cast full of big Hollywood names such as Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, Kenneth Branagh, Penelope Cruz and Judi Dench, to name a few.

Murder on the Orient Express (12a) begins as a lavish train ride which unfolds into a stylish and suspenseful mystery.

From the novel by Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express tells of 13 stranded strangers and one man’s race to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again.

Finally, this autumn sees the inspiring tale of Breathe (12a), due to be released tomorrow, October, 27.

This is the moving story of Robin and Diana Cavendish, an adventurous couple who refuse to give up in the face of a devastating disease. Their heart-warming celebration of human possibility marks the directorial debut of Andy Serkis.

There nothing better than a good love story to warm up the cold nights but don’t forget your tissues because I have a feeling this one could be a tear jerker!
