After what seems like a long closed period, we are now ready to throw open our doors and welcome visitors back to East Riddlesden Hall - floors have been waxed, carpets beaten and pewter polished.

The new season brings with it a hobbit house which can be found in our Discovery Garden. This was lovingly built over winter by a team of volunteers and will be the perfect place for children (and grown-ups) to hide and create mud pies for the Hob of Riddlesden.

We are thrilled to have this and I’m sure that visitors will agree that it’s a lovely new addition to our family offering.

Easter will soon be upon us, and Cadbury is once again supporting the National Trust to host our Easter Egg Trails. Our Easter Trail will run from April 18-21, between 10.30am-4pm.

To inspire your child’s inner adventurer we’re giving them the tools they need to transform them into Eggsplorers! The trail will start at base camp where each child will receive a ‘make it yourself’ pith hat. They will also receive a trail journal with map and clues to help them stay on track and a trail passport to record stamps. After successfully completing the trail each Eggsplorer will be rewarded with a delicious Cadbury Egghead. The trail is £1.50 per child and general admission prices will also apply. Arts and crafts will also be available and are included in the price as well as entry into our ‘design your own egghead’ competition where one lucky winner’s design will be made into a real Egghead in 2015.

We’re expecting 2014 to be a very busy year and to help us are looking to recruit volunteers for some new roles.

We are looking for friendly, energetic people who can help us in the following roles: tearoom kitchen assistants, visitor experience assistants, social and digital media assistants, car parking marshals and wedding assistants. Volunteering your time is a great way to learn new skills, meet people and expand your horizons. We are flexible with the days that you volunteer on and will cover your travel expenses, however, in any role we need a serious commitment. If you would like to find out more about the vacancies, please contact carla.weatherall@nationaltrust.org.uk or call 01535 607075. The property is now open Saturdays to Wednesdays between 10.30am – 4.30pm (last admissions are at 4pm).
