NOW THAT we’ve approached the end of the summer holiday, we only have two months left until our room guide volunteers can take a well-earned winter rest and we switch to being open on a Saturday and Sunday only.

The shop and tearoom will open all weekend throughout November and December until December 20, and are in need of some extra pairs of hands to help.

As a charity, we rely on volunteer support to help us to look after this special place. Do you have some spare time to lend a hand over these weekends?

You don’t need specific retail or catering experience, but we are looking for people who are friendly and willing to get stuck in.

From taking orders to clearing tables in the tearoom, or from putting away deliveries to helping a customer choose the perfect Christmas gift in the shop, it's likely we'll have something to suit everyone.

Volunteers are at the heart of East Riddlesden Hall and last year over 9,000 hours were donated by the volunteers here.

We are always looking for friendly, energetic people who can help us to deliver a great experience for people visiting East Riddlesden Hall.

There are so many reasons to volunteer, and everyone has their own reason, however, volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, meet people and expand your horizons.

It counts towards the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and is great for your CV and is simply a good way to meet new friends too.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need to be able to commit an enormous amount of time, or know a lot about the property.

In reality, as long as you’re friendly, energetic and happy to spend a bit of time learning about East Riddlesden Hall, then we’re happy to provide the support and the training to help you to enjoy volunteering here.

If you are local, have lots of enthusiasm and a great smile then we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch with me to have a chat, and I’ll be delighted to hear from you.

I can be contacted on 01535 607075, option 3 or e-mailed via carla.weatherall@nationaltrust.org.uk. Alternatively, all current volunteering opportunities can be found at http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/east-riddlesden-hall/join-in.

For the remaining two months of the season we will be offering conservation tours of the house every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 12.30pm until October 20.

Led by volunteers, these 30-minute tours will share with you the work that goes on behind the scenes in the house and explain why we have our radiators turned on in summer and the curtains closed to the sun.

The tours are limited to 10 people so anybody wishing to join is advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment. The tours are free with general admission price to the house which is £6.60 per adult or free to National Trust members.

The property is currently open Saturdays to Wednesdays between 10.30am and 4.30pm. Last admissions are at 4pm.
