THE AIRE & Worth Valley Wanderers have announced a new series of walks along the two Keighley river valleys.

Local people are invited to join existing members for walks of around three miles in length on Thursdays , starting at 1.30pm.

The aims are to get fit and meet new friends while exploring hidden gems of the valleys and learning about their local and natural history.

An April 5 walk from Cliffe Castle to Riddlesden via Utley will take in bridleways, muddy tracks, minor roads and the canal towpath. Meet at Cliffe Castle car park on Spring Gardens Lane.

A Haworth circular via Marsh on April 12 will include footpaths over fields (muddy when wet) and short climbs uphill and downhill.

Meet at Keighley bus station for the 1.05pm B3 Hebden Bridge bus or meet at Haworth railway station at 1.20pm.

A Riddlesden Circular will take in the old golf course on April 19, as well as roadsides, footpaths and canal towpath.

Meet by the canal road Bridge on Bar Lane.

Silsden Circular on April 26 will be mostly level along the canal towpath, open fields and riverbank.

Meet at Keighley Bus Station for the 12.55pm 62 Otley bus or outside the Kings Arms pub in Silsden at 1.15pm.

May 3 offers a stroll round Devonshire and Cliffe Castle parks and will be only two miles. Meet at the main gates of Devonshire Park on Spring Gardens Lane.

Also coming up: Oakworth Circular via Grouse Inn (May 10); East Morton Circular via Sunnydale and the Glen (May 17); Micklethwaite Circular (May 24).

The walks are aimed at people who have reasonably good mobility. Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.
