HAWORTH Cinema's 2015 season opens with an inspirational British comedy tomorrow evening. (Jan 9) People are invited to come and watch Pride (15) which is set in 1984, during the National Union of Mineworkers strike.

The film, inspired by a true story, focuses on the role played by a London-based group of gay activists who decide to raise money to support the strikers' families.

Initially rebuffed by the union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person.

The cinema is run by Haworth Film Club, and the screening takes place in the village's West Lane Baptist Church at 7.30pm tomorrow. Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for students.

A spokesman for the club said it would be showing at least 14 films over the next seven months.
