Council seeks hosts for community days
CIVIC groups are being invited to promote their work at public events in Keighley.
They can run information stalls at a series of events in spring and summer.
Bradford Council is giving cash to local people and groups to run the events for their communities.
In return, the organisers must allow bodies like the police, schools, community associations and health agencies to attend.
The activities range from established town centre events, to get-togethers and events for specific neighbourhoods, including cook-and-eat, open days, village galas, art workshops, a barn dance and celebrations of achievements.
Areas include Woodhouse, Oakworth, Silsden, Bracken Bank, Laycock, Highfield, Hainworth and Lawkholme.
A programme detailing the events has been put together by Noreen Akhtar, who works in the council's area co-ordinator's office.
She said: "This is an opportunity to get all the benefits of a well-organised event without organising it yourself."
More than 25 events are being supported from a £20,000 fund, through the Keighley Area Committee. Organisations can contact Noreen on 01535 618008 or email noreen.akhtar@bradford.gov.uk.

Why restricted to these areas? - isn't my council tax good enough to reach further up the valley?
