MPs told of choir’s 100 years

Steeton Male Voice Choir has been congratulated in the House of Commons on its centenary.

Keighley MP Ann Cryer paid tribute to the 90-strong group of singers in an early day motion.

She addressed fellow MPs following the choir's anniversary concert at St George's Hall, in Bradford.

Mrs Cryer congratulated the choir's members, past and present, for giving great pleasure to many people.

She also thanked the choir's ladies support group and patrons for their valuable roles as helpers and supporters.

She asked the House to record the appreciation and pride that many residents of the Aire Valley had in the choir.

She added: "Its extremely fine music was demonstrated at its very best at St George's Hall."

More than 200 voices combined for last month's concert as the Steeton singers united with other choirs and a band.
