Relief as PO is saved
Villagers are celebrating after their post office was excluded from the latest list of branches earmarked for closure.
It was feared the axe could fall on Crossflatts Post Office, in Keighley Road.
But this week it was revealed that only one branch in the Shipley parliamentary constituency, at St Paul's Road, in Shipley, is under threat. Local MP Philip Davies said: "Given that one in six nationally are closing I am obviously relieved only one is closing in my constituency.
"I am delighted they are planning to retain all the others, particularly in the villages.
"However, closing the St Paul's Road branch will be a blow to residents and to businesses."
Across the UK, the number of post offices is being reduced by up to 2,500 from the current level of around 14,000.
The previous round of closures - confirmed in February - included East Morton, Bradford Road at Stockbridge, Highfield and Farnhill.
