‘Embarrassing’ increase in complaints against councillors
This last civic year has witnessed a big increase in the number of complaints involving Keighley town councillors reported to Bradford's standards committee.
Cllr Graham Mitchell, who revealed this to the council, said the news left him feeling "ashamed".
He said at a recent meeting of the standards committee he learned that during the 2006-7 civic year there were only three complaints across the whole metropolitan district regarding parish councillors.
"Members will be glad to hear that none were relating to this council," he said.
But he added: "In the current civic year just ending, there were 15 complaints across the whole metropolitan district regarding parish councillors, and over two thirds of the complaints were related to members of this town council.
"I have to say that I was embarrassed and ashamed by this."

I feel ashamed like Mr Mitchell, I won't sleep tonight worrying about a plastic council, how will Keighley survive this?
