Early batting collapse costs Keighley
 |
| Keighley captain Stephen Reape's side have struggled at the start of the season. They will be hoping to turn their fortunes around with a league victory at home to Bankfoot on Saturday and an away match at Whitley Hall in the Heavy Woollen Cup on Sunday. |
Keighley Cricket Club have had a tough start to their 2008 season as the Lawkholme Lane side suffered a second defeat in a row at Idle on Saturday.
Idle, relegated from Division One last season, bowled Keighley out for 141 on the back of an excellent bowling performance by Mohammad Rasool who took 5-18 in 14 overs.
Before they knew it, Keighley found themselves on 5-27 as none of their top five reached double figures.
The lower middle order of Stuart Ratcliffe (24), Ross Towler (24), skipper Stephen Reape (18) and Paul Quinlan (17) helped return some respectability to the Keighley innings.
In reply Idle eased past the Keighley total in the 30th over with six wickets in hand. D Shuffe's unbeaten 48 led the Idle batting.
Paul Quinlan was the pick of the Keighley bowlers, taking 2-22.
Keighley's second team had a good day on Saturday, winning by two wickets at home to Pudsey St Lawrence.
Pudsey batted first and put up a solid total of 182 before being bowled out by Keighley in the 49th over. Tamir Shahid top scored with 61. Andrew Coppen (3-21) and Paul Wilkinson (3-30) were the pick of the Keighley bowlers.
In reply Keighley got off to a slow start and were 14-2 after losing openers Alan Broadley and captain Tim Burnley early in the innings.
Paul Wilkinson (24) and Ashley Robinson (13) steadied the ship before unleashing youngster Scott Hartley, who top scored with 48. Keighley passed the Pudsey total with two wickets and ten balls to spare.
Keighley's first team are at home to Bankfoot on Saturday while the second team travel to Hanging Heaton.
